'Sqwahr' is how a beautiful girl in our family tried to say ‘squirrel’ when she was two years old. She was embracing the human need to communicate and express, even if the attempt wasn’t perfect. Welcome to our family and other sqwahrs.
Twelve years ago on Aug. 15, 1997, our male Jack Russell Terrier was born into a litter of 5. Here are a few pictures of Buzz at 5 weeks, and one of him at 9 weeks when we took him home. He was pretty adorable....
The top one on the left is at 9 weeks, The lower one is Don with the whole litter. Shannon and Alex are holding the chosen one!..Can you pick him out in the litter?...............................................................................................He is the puppy with the white muzzle.
Here is Buzz this morning, at 12 years old. He is looking at Don who has his favorite treat, Milkbone dog biscuits! We break them up in very small pieces, so he gets many treats, many times a day, but not alot at all, really. Buzz is still pretty adorable, at least his "Mom" thinks so! Happy Birthday, little guy!
How on earth did you walk away with just one?
How cute is Buzz as a pup.awwwwwwww......
Look at him now, you tend to forget how small they once were.
The reason why Amie has never had pups is that we couldn't have let them go. We have twice had the very first pick of a litter of pups. One litter of labradors and once from our friends who wanted a very good home for one of their pups, a litter of Great Danes. How we walked away from the Danes I'm not sure... (we did have a labrador). I think maybe our friends tried too hard as we insisted the cottage was too small for such a large dog. They insisted that when they went to sleep they curled into a small ball. Amie walking along the side of a Great Dane would have made a great picture. I really really regret not having the Great Dane.
I have to tell you, Midge, that we NEVER showed Buzz anything, animal, bird, whatever, to go after or catch. It is pure instinct. And if I remember, Jackie was quite taken with the idea also, right from the get go. She had lived a very sheltered life before we bought her, so I know for sure she didn't know a thing about hunting. It is all instinct...Just like it is for Frank! I wonder if he and Buzz would have competed for the catch! We'll never know, will we??
