A few years ago a miracle happened at Bonefish Grill. Michele tasted a shrimp appetizer (that's a biggie) and liked it (that is HUGE)! It was called Bang Bang Shrimp. It is the only shrimp she had ever, ever warmed to.
I looked up a copycat recipe for Bang Bang Shrimp on the internet. It called for shelled and deveined shrimp. Dip the shrimp in cornstarch and fry. Put together a dipping/coating sauce of mayo, Thai sweet chili sauce and a few drops of hot sauce.
The shrimp cooked nicely in the cornstarch...something I've never tried before. The dip was pretty good, BUT IT WASN'T BANG BANG.
However, Michele actually liked it. Certainly not as much as she liked Bang Bang. But she liked shrimp for the second time! Holy moly. Our lives have changed. Michele likes shrimp.

I like the look of those....... you might not have many left if you left the plate near me. Look good....................YO!................. something Don has cooked I could eat...............
Midge, you've made my day.
I heard that sometimes people don't like a given food because they are mildly allergic to them, like cheese or nuts... or shrimp. However, it seems that's not the case with Michele.
I love the copy cat recipes! I was able to make an amazing Eggplant Parmesan thanks to a copy cat of the "Olive Garden Italian Restaurant" on the Internet.
When you have perfected this recipe, you will have to share the final result with us!
Michele insists that she doesn't like some foods because of their, 'texture'. The list includes onions, mushrooms and until recently, shrimp. The corn starch coating apparently gave the shrimp enough of a snap to help Michele overcome her texture-aversion to them.
