Mother Goose Speaking Of Winter

Winter is much on my mind.  I remembered this Mother Goose nursery rhyme, which we recorded for another site.  Here is the audio

I do wonder about the birds and other critters when the snow is two feet deep and the temperature bobs around zero.  The mice are probably happy.  They can bustle along snow-tunnels, enjoying a constant temperature and less threat from owls, hawks, fox, raccoons, 'possums, heck, about everything but other receptive mice.

We do what we can for the birds.  We feed a lot of sunflower seed and suet, and we keep a heated birdbath full and fresh for them.  Even the squirrels drink at the birdbath.  The deer feed on spilled seed.  And the hawks occasionally exact tribute from the inattentive.

Nature is fascinating.  But enough with the snow, already.
