I was walking down the back stairs at the office, and saw some strange markings on the frozen pond. You can see them upper middle on this photo.
It turns out they are fowl tracks. A duck or two must have landed on the ice when it was soft, walked around in confusion ('Heathcliff, I'm thure there wath water here latht night...a lot of water, too!'), and then lifted off, in search of softer water.
Looks like a Loch Ness monster track to me. Mind you I am short sighted.
My first thought was that some poor creature mistook the stick for a blowhole and flailed about under the soft ice trying to find a way to unclog the stick.
And now that moment is forever captured by the ice.
Or at least until the sun melts it.
... or it is what you said.
Loch Ness Monster oh yes......
OR MAYBE a very artistic DUCK....
