The Finished Otter

finished Otter 00001.JPGHere he is, the Finished Otter, whiskers and all.  And yes, they do have back legs, but he is sitting on his.  At least the real one was!  I still think he is a critter that Carrie will like.  I darkened his middle and sides, gave him claws, whiskers and made his face a little furrier.  I put in a hint of a background for him to be on, and a shadow, to ground him.

Oh my, he is lovely! I could just reach out and pet him. Forgive me if I sound ignorant with this question, but what medium did you paint him on? Is that canvas?

Tiffany, no question is an ignorant question...Couldn't learn a thing without asking! I painted him on what is called 300 lb. watercolor paper. It is very stiff, and doesn't require taping, clamping or otherwise holding down. It doesn't buckle. I can hold it in my hand (!)to paint. Love answering questions, ask away! Don't you wish you could touch all lovely animals, and look them right in the eye? Even snakes are lovely and vibrant...that is sooo different than when I was younger! Thanks for your inquiry, I've been meaning to comment back to you!

Michele, been looking at all your animals. They are so beautiful. It must be lovely to have such a gift.
Very nice and what a keepsake for the grandkids.
